Advisor:  Kathy Schoenknecht (kschoenknecht@cedarburg.k12.wi.us)
Meeting Location:
Meeting Times/Dates:Meetings are held after school or when needed. Four or five times per year there are picnics, parties, or evening get–togethers. We also sponsor, with the adult chapter, the Milwaukee weekend, Cedarburg Weekend and the AFS variety show.

Description:The AFS is the American Field Service, an International Intercultural Scholarship Organization formed to promote better understanding among people through student exchanges. The AFS operates three major student scholarship programs. One brings foreign students to the U.S. from any one of approximately 60 nations to live with American families and attend their junior or senior year at American high schools. Another program, called Americans Abroad, sends American students abroad for study and living experiences for one full year or for the summer. The third program allows
American students to live in a different part of the world for a semester, or six months.

The AFS Club provides an opportunity for students to further their interests in international understanding and to learn more about cultures different from their own through personal relationships with AFS students. The club also helps the local adult chapter in its work.

Membership:Students should have an interest in people from other countries, and must also show interest in fundraising, community service, and it is very likey to come away with having a lifelog friend in another country.

Student Leadership:
17 AFS students studying in the US, at surrounding high schools, came to spend the day in Cedarburg with the CHS AFS Club. We had Brunch together, participated in a scavenger hunt downtown, bowled at the new Cedars III, & had dinner together.
