Join Debate Team!

Advisor:  Linda Burgan (lburgan@cedarburg.k12.wi.us)
Meeting Location: IMC Classroom

Meeting Times/Dates:  Public Forum Monday 3-5  Thursday 3-4  Policy Mondays & Wednesday

Description:Are you a person who has strong beliefs? Do you seize the opportunity to convince people of such things as rights of smokers or non–smokers, the obligation we have to save our environment, or the pros and cons of capital punishment? If you are a person who enjoys arguing, making a point, supporting it, and winning, debate is definitely for you. In this activity, students will “engage their brains and their mouths” to drive home
a point or defend a position. Working in partners to form squads of four, the winning CHS team has Novice, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels of competition. We also have two person teams - for Public Forum  Level is attained with ability and/or experience. In these teams, students investigate a current topic and develop a case for their position. Can you meet the challenge?

Membership: Everyone is welcome!
