Parkview
A Message from Mrs. Holck:
Dear Parkview Families,
When you think about the challenges we have faced during this last year, it is rewarding to reflect on all of the successes we have had so far during the 2020-2021 school year. Three quarters of the school year are now in the past, and we are proud of the strong virtual and in-person instruction that teachers are providing for all of our learners. As always, we continue to closely monitor each child’s strengths, challenges, and how much they have grown during their time at Parkview.
Speaking of progress, your child’s 3rd quarter grades are now ready for you to review. You can see your child’s progress report by logging into Skyward Family Access with your username and password. You can also access Skyward Family Access from our website by clicking on the “Parents” tab, and then “Skyward Family Access”. Select “Families” and then “Skyward Family Access”. Click on “Portfolio and Reports” on the sidebar to the left. Then click on “2020-21 Quarter 3 Progress Report”. As always, please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
As the weather begins to get warmer, we usually see an increase in children riding bikes and walking to and from school. This always leads to an increase in pedestrian traffic in front of the school. Parents who pick up after school are asked to wait for your child(ren) further along the sidewalk or on the grassy areas on the north and south sides of the school in order to free up more space for student dismissal. Regarding our 3:35 p.m. dismissal time, it is important to let your child know that the school does not provide after school supervision, and for safety and security reasons, it is our expectation that students promptly leave school grounds after the dismissal bell.
Finally, I would like to reassure you that we will continue to do everything we can to provide a quality learning experience for your children in a safe and nurturing environment. While the state mask mandate is no longer in effect, our district continues to adhere to DHS mask recommendations and we require masks be worn on school grounds. Please refer to our District Reentry Plan face covering policy if you are unclear about these expectations.
Thank you for your partnership and for choosing Parkview Elementary School.
Mrs. Jayne Holck, Principal

Reporting Absences-Tardies-Early Dismissals
*In the event that your child is going to be absent or tardy, it is imperative that you phone the school Attendance Line at 262-376-6866 prior to 9:00 a.m., even if you have already notified the teacher. When calling in a tardy, please include reason for the tardy and approximate time of arrival. If your student will be taking hot lunch they will need to login to their Google form to make their lunch choice or notify the office.
*If your child is absent please include the reason for the absence on the Attendance Line at 262-376-6866. If they are ill, please include symptoms, this is critical information our office and health room staff needs for tracking purposes. As a reminder, please review the Student COVID-19 Health Screening Checklist each morning with your in-person student(s) to help us maintain a healthy and safe learning environment for our students and staff.
*If you need to take your child out of school during the day, please send a note with your child and have your child give the note to their teacher. We will not release children to anyone other than parents without direct permission from them. Notes should state the time you need your child in the office for dismissal, reason for early dismissal (Dr. Appt., Family Activity, etc.) and if they will be returning to school or not returning to school that day.
*ADDITION: A virtual student’s absence, tardy and early departure should be reported to the Attendance Line at 262-376-6866 prior to 9:00 a.m. Using the same guidelines as above.
*Parents arriving to pick up their student for an early release should enter the lobby and press the intercom button to announce they are here to pick up their student. Parents should wait in the lobby for their student to be released from the office. Students coming back from an appointment or coming in late need to check in the office before heading back to class.
*The best way to communicate changes in going home plans is to write a note and send it with the student in the morning. This year, per district guidelines, students are only allowed to ride on their own designated bus route(s), they are not allowed to ride on an alternative route(s) with a friend. If your student needs to exit at an alternative stop on their own route, the student must have a note signed by a parent stating the address and the student they will be getting off the bus with. The student’s teacher will obtain a bus stamp from the office for the student to show their driver.
*Emergency changes can be called in to the office at 262-376-6805. Office personnel will write a note and deliver it to the teacher. This method should be used infrequently.
*Elementary students need a note from a parent if their normal going home plan changes for any reason. If going home plan changes involve pickup by an authorized adult, please ensure the adult is listed in Skyward. Parents can add an authorized adult to Skyward by contacting the office.
*If you need to take your child out of school for extended periods of time, please send a note to school with your child as early as possible. Notes should include dates they will be absent, child’s full name and teacher’s name.
