Work and Career Based Learning
Ozaukee Youth Apprenticeship

Youth Apprenticeship (YA) integrates school-based and work-based learning to instruct students in employability and occupational skills defined by Wisconsin Industries.   YAs are operated under guidelines established by the State of Wisconsin and are coordinated with each Ozaukee County school district. Students chosen for YA programs are scheduled into high school courses, industry-related coursework, and paid worksite learning. Successful completion of the YA program provides each student with a certificate of occupational proficiency from the State of Wisconsin, high school diploma, and advanced standing with the Wisconsin Technical College System. After graduation from high school, students can enter the workforce with enhanced employability skills, enter a technical training program or college, or enroll at a four–year university to study for a baccalaureate degree.  Program requirements for a “level one” certification include 450 hours of work-based experience & 900 hours for a “level two” certification.

*All OYA can be taken for either one or two years.
