The Golden Bulldogs of Cedarburg High School
Mission Statement
The mission of the Golden Bulldogs is to stimulate an ongoing and continued interest in Cedarburg High School and students who attended Cedarburg High School through its many graduates and former students. The wisdom that we have accrued over these many years since we left Cedarburg High School enables us to appreciate and value the excellent education and discipline instilled in us by extraordinary teachers, administrators, and coaches. We have been fortunate and blessed.
Golden Bulldogs Reunions
The Golden Bulldogs will facilitate communication among all alumnae, alumni and fellow Cedarburg High School students thereby promoting free and friendly social and professional relationships.
In its sixteen years of existence, the Golden Bulldogs have initiated the Cedarburg Community Scholarship Fund (CCSF) and the Vince Cibik Scholarship Endowment, each in the amount of $500 and awarded yearly. The CCSF is given in honor of all Golden Bulldogs who have attended Cedarburg High School and in memory of Golden Bulldogs no longer with us. The Vince Cibik scholarship is given in honored memory of Coach Cibik whose influence on young men has helped them achieve exceptional goals in life. The CCSFs will be awarded to the graduating seniors who best exemplify the Heart, Mind and Soul qualities that combine to make a true citizen. The graduating student-athlete whom the faculty deems likely to have the greatest positive influence on the world will be the recipient of the Vince Cibik award. With further donations, we will be able to increase the number of scholarship dollars and the number of scholarships given.
Golden Bulldogs events are open to any former student of Cedarburg High School and guests. All are invited to participate in the program, tours, luncheon, and Saturday evening reunion gathering.
To become a Golden Bulldog individuals must be in a class that is or has celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. The Golden Bulldogs hold their reunion on the last weekend in August (prior to Labor Day) in coordination with the CHS class celebrating its 50th reunion and with all classes celebrating their 5 year anniversaries. Specific classes are encouraged to hold their own gatherings on Friday evening or Sunday. The major event on Saturday will bring everybody together to enjoy a picnic lunch and an afternoon program paying tribute to teachers and others who have influenced the growth and character of CHS students over the years. The big party on Saturday evening includes dinner, entertainment, dancing, and reconnecting with friends with whom we share a common past.
This year marks the 16th Annual Golden Bulldogs Reunion since the organization’s inception on June 28, 2003. The creative leadership of Dr. Kenneth Oberheu (Class of 1953), the efforts of many individuals and three years of planning and promotion culminated in the first annual Golden Bulldog Reunion on August 11 and 12, 2006 with hundreds of graduates and former students in attendance. The first class to be recognized and presented with their Golden Bulldogs pins was the Class of 1954.
The Golden Bulldogs have identified worthy goals:
- Honoring the people and the institution that nurtured our formative years,
- Promoting communication and social and professional relationships between alumnae and alumni,
- Preserving our history, and
- Establishing scholarships to enable the higher education goals of future generations.
We invite all CHS graduates and former students to join our efforts on behalf of our alma mater.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Attend a Golden Bulldogs Reunion, call or e-mail a classmate today. Tomorrow is a day, month, or year too late.
