Welcome to Cedarburg School District

School District Announcements...

Hello all CSD Families-

Have you ever heard of Best Buddies? It’s a statewide organization that matches students with and without disabilities to work together on service projects and attend social outings together. We’re lucky enough to have this program in our high school, and are looking to add a similar program at Webster!

The goal of each Best Buddies chapter is to make sure that each of us see the abilities, not the disabilities, of all individuals - we want everyone to be successful in school, the workplace, and life whether or not they have a disability.

There is a Best Buddies Friendship Walk on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 1 pm that will start/finish at Harris Bank in historic Cedarburg, and we hope that you might be able to join us. Cost to attend is FREE, but those raising funds to support the Best Buddies mission are eligible to receive amazing prizes. We invite you to get involved in one of 3 ways:

·Be a Team Captain - Form your own team to help support the Friendship Walk

·Volunteer If you would be interested in serving on a committee or being a day-of volunteer, please email at TheresaNemetz@bestbuddies.org

·Donate – If you can't attend the Friendship Walk, you can still participate "virtually" by making a General Team Donation: http://www.bestbuddieswisconsin.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=489809&lis=1&kntae489809=1440D3264F514A999A42353FC3702A8C  All donations are tax deductible.

Thanks and if you have any questions please feel free to call or email me.

What Social Norms?

The Cedarburg School District has implemented an ATOD prevention project in the middle school and high school, grades 6 through 12.  The district decided to use a comprehensive and intensive prevention program to reduce misperceptions of ATOD use among high school students.  This prevention program is grounded in science-based, research driven social norms theory and social marketing strategies.  The project proposes to accomplish: 1) correct misperceptions of student ATOD use; 2) increase the use of normative prevention statements; and 3) increase parent, and staff that report having a conversation with a middle or high school student about ATOD.
