CSD TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Cedarburg School District is committed to creating structures and professional learning content to support the roles and responsibilities of each employee. The ultimate goal or focus of our District’s learning is to foster high levels of student engagement and success. A District calendar is developed annually with designated Early Dismissal and Professional Development (PD) and PD/Record days to create opportunities for more substantive time to learn and apply newly acquired practices and for full department/cross-school learning engagement.
- Early Dismissal Days - These days are dedicated to Professional Learning Team (PLT) time, which includes groups of teachers reviewing current lesson/unit content, discussing student assessment results, and calibrating instructional and grading practices.
- 2024-25 Early Dismissal Dates: October 11, 2024, February 14, 2025, March 21, 2025, and May 22, 2025.
- Record Days - These days are dedicated to an upcoming reporting window. Teachers analyze student assessment results, interpret progress, and make final marking decisions for each student's progress report.
- 2024-25 Record Dates: November 4, 2024, January 24, 2025, April 7, 2025, and June 13, 2025.
- Professional Development Days - These days encompass school, and district-associated professional learning content as it pertains to the needs of the school, the needs of the District, and the specialized needs of teachers/departments.

Act 20: Act 20 is a Wisconsin state law that requires schools to provide early literacy instruction and assessment for students in grades 4K–3. The law aims to ensure that all students can read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade.
Amplify: Elementary core literacy program
Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate (ALICE): CSD school safety program
Art, Music, Physical Education (AMP)
iReady: Universal 5K-8 assessment system. iReady provides a learning map of personalized instruction for math and reading based on the diagnostic results. Teachers monitor and manage Personalized Instruction (PI) and engage students through data chats.
Professional Learning Community (PLC): PLC is a district-wide school improvement process structured around three key questions:
- What do we want students to know and be able to do? (Curriculum)
- How will we know that they know? (Assessment)
- What will we do if they know or do not know what has been taught?
Professional Learning Time (PLT): Dedicated time set aside for the same grade or departments to meet and discuss any content pertaining to the three PLC questions.
School/Student Learning Objective (SLO): An SLO is a student's academic growth measure and is part of rigorous goals focused on specific learners over a specified timeframe.
Professional Practice Goal (PPG): A PPG focuses on an educator's practice. The teacher completes the Student Learning Objective (SLO) process prior to completing the Self-Assessment of Professional Practice and setting a Professional Practice Goal (PPG).
