Westlawn Receives Two National Promising Practice Awards

The Cedarburg School District was represented by Westlawn School this fall at the national convention of the Character Education Partnership in Washington DC.  Westlawn School received two national Promising Practice Awards at the convention; one for its Girls Getaway project that was designed and implemented by former Westlawn school counselor Kristen Kapler.  Fifth grade girls and their moms (or significant adult female in their life) gathered for an evening of bonding, sharing hopes and dreams for the future, relationship-building activities and just plain fun, as the girls prepare to leave the halls of Westlawn and enter the world of Webster Transitional School. The other award recognized Westlawn School's Parent Engagement Project, which builds bridges between school and home every month through hands-on activities that families do together to promote, reinforce and practice monthly character pillars.
