
Karen Sueppel
Standout athlete Karen Sueppel was a four-year varsity volleyball star for Cedarburg High School during the 2005-2008 seasons. Despite missing half of her freshman season due to injury, she was still awarded All-Conference Honorable Mention. Karen’s success continued into her sophomore year as she recorded 307 kills which were the second best in school history. Karen’s stellar performance on the court also helped her team to win the Conference Championship. She capped off her 2006 season earning 1st Team All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention.
In 2007 as a junior, Karen set the single-season kill record with a total of 566, averaging 5.72 kills per set, creating a new school record. These accomplishments also helped Karen to earn the North Shore Conference Player of the Year, as well as Second-team All-State. During her senior year, she added another 504 kills setting another school record. Karen was voted 1st Team All-Conference and was selected to the coveted 1st Team All-State. She ended her career at Cedarburg with a record of 1,478 spike kills.
After completing her outstanding career at CHS, Karen played volleyball in college at Loyola University Chicago for two years. After her second year, she decided to focus on her studies at UW-Eau Claire earning a degree in social work. A longtime passion and love for volleyball led Karen to start the first women's volleyball club at UW-Eau Claire. She played and coached two back-to-back Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Championships. After a notable volleyball career, Karen was inducted into the 2020 Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Hall of Fame.
