Athlete Expectations
All athletes must understand their responsibility to represent their families, teams, and schools positively within the community. They should strive to be exemplary role models and leaders.
|
Attendance
- You are expected to attend all required practices during the season. If you cannot attend practice, you must have a note/email from your teacher, parent, or doctor. If you know you have a scheduling conflict please let the head coach in advance so alternative practice options may be explored.
- After one unexcused absence, a warning will be given to the athlete (via email to the athlete and parent). Subsequent unexcused absences will result in the athlete being held from entering the next scheduled competition.
Tardiness
- You are expected to be at practice 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of that practice to ensure you are ready to begin with the proper training equipment at the start time.
- If you are tardy, you must have a pass from a teacher or a note/email from a parent explaining why are late to practice.
- After a written warning (via email to athlete and parent) has been issued regarding a tardy arrival. Future tardiness will affect the athlete’s meet opportunities.
Injuries
- If an athlete has an injury that prevents them from practicing or completing the practices as planned, it is expected that they visit the training room for an assessment and recovery plan.
- If an injury prevents the athlete from swimming during training sessions, the athlete will not be allowed to compete until they can return to practice sessions. If injuries persist longer than 2 weeks with no improvement the athlete may be asked to take time off to rest the injury to prevent any further damage. After that rest period, the injury will be revisited by the training room and guidance for reintroduction to the activities.
Effort
- We have one motto "Never, ever quit on your team." Each athlete is expected to give their teammates 100% effort each day during practice, strength and conditioning, or meets.
Equipment
- Everyone will receive a parka or warm up to wear during meets. You will be held financially responsible for the parka that you are assigned, and you cannot take exams until it has been accounted for!! If lost or damaged you will be responsible for replacement costs ($60 Used / $120 New)
- All equipment must be returned and checked off immediately after your final meet of the season. If you fail to do so, you will be placed on the exam fine list.
Transportation
- Buses
- Bus departure times will be announced and posted before each meet. Buses will leave from the main athletic entrance.
- Travel Release
- All swimmers are expected to ride home with the team. If circumstances arise that require the athlete to leave with a parent, we must receive a signed Travel Release Form, available in the Athletic Office or on the district website. Athletes are only allowed to ride home with their parents!
Meet Entries
- Meet entries for all meets will be posted outside Coach’s office typically the day before the meet. After posting, it is the swimmer’s responsibility to know what event(s) they are swimming in.
- Meet entries will be determined by the Head Coach and will be based on the line-up that is needed to put our TEAM in the best position to compete. This means athletes may not swim in events they "want" to swim but will be entered in events the team "needs" them to swim for points. There will be opportunities for athletes to swim in races that they prefer but again, first priority is based on what is best for the TEAM.
- Bulldog Invitational
- All those not competing in the Bulldog Invite are expected to help host the meet by timing, working in the concession stand, or in any other way.
- Dual Meets
- Everyone will wear CHS Bulldogs apparel the day of a home dual meet. You are expected to be on the pool deck, away from the scorer’s table, at 4:30 pm.
To earn a Varsity letter, the points scored at the Varsity conference meet or Sectional meet will determine your eligibility for a Varsity letter. Swimming Varsity in dual meets or invites does not guarantee a Varsity letter, and swimming JV in dual meets does not disqualify you from earning a Varsity letter. Consistency and improvement are taken into consideration.
- Conference and Sectional Teams
- Final rosters will be announced the Monday before the meet.
All HS Boys’ Swim & Dive Team communication will (usually) be by email from this address: nrudich@cedarburg.k12.wi.us
Please email this address to be added to the email group to receive (often) weekly communication. Emails will generally be sent on Sunday nights ahead of the new week with pertinent information for that week ahead. They will cover practice times, meet information, spirit wear and team activities. Please forward this address only to other CHS swim & dive families that may not be aware of this as a means of contact.
Go Bulldogs!
